The Black Robin

Long Long ago in the lands of Aotearoa a white bird sawed across the island with grace and harmony. Although the bird was small it had mighty power to change the colours of  Aotearoa. The bird changed the colours of flowers it brought the colours of night and day, it kept the lands nice and green and fresh for the other animals on the island.   One day the bird didn’t fly over the lands know one had seen the bird at all, and because the bird brought the colours of night and day, the sky was filled with a pitch black lurking darkness, the creatures were scared and that only made the sky darker.
The creatures of the land looked high and low to find the white bird but it was nowhere to be seen. They came across a small village with a huddled up tribe looking at something with excitement while there bellies rumbled. Before they could look someone from the tribe snatched the creachers and took them into one of the Teepees where the white bird had been kept. They were glad they found the white bird but sad because their trapped and they might never see daylight again. The white bird remembered … it’s still a bird and he pecked through the net and they all escaped. The white bird sawed through the black sky but it was too late the sky was to dark, the only way for day to come was that the bird had to take the colour and put it into him. The bird started flapping and then he started to glow, all the darkness was being sucked into him then poof. The white bird was a pitch black colour. And that's the story about the black robin and how it became black.

My Mural Art

For the past few weeks Marama have been creating their own mural art. Our mural art is a visual image about yourself. It shows things about your family and culture and things about you and your interests. First we had to do a plan then draft and once that was cheeked by the teacher we could start on our good copy, then we could use the water paints to color our creation.
On mine it starts off with me drawing because I love to do art, next I have cabbage trees because I grew up in the planes, then I have a farm because I live on a farm , next comes the hockey turf because I love to play hockey last but not least I have a chef hat because I love to Bake and cook. I think they all turned out amazing.

Reps Hockey

Last night was the Thames Valley girls first hockey game for 2016. We where versing Wahi and Paeroa combined. We got off to a good start by getting 2 goals in the first 5 minuets. The rest of the game was a little boring because I was standing at the goal waiting for the ball to come my way but it never did. It was also a good thing because that means that we where winning.

It was half time and I still hadn't touched the ball. Chris gave his inspirational speech like always and then we ran back onto the turf and did our cheer before going into position. Every now and then you would hear a faint "WOOW" and that's when we get our goals. Finally the ball was coming my way, I have been preparing myself for this for almost an hour but then..... Someone from my hockey team swept the ball away before I could. Then the game was over, we ended up with 7 nil to us.

Fry Bread

Yesterday me and my learning team made fry bread with Mrs Heaven to celebrate Maori language week. Fry Bread is a traditional Maori food also known as Maori Bread. It has relay easy ingredients to get a hold of and it goes a long way.
What you will need to make Fry Bread:

  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Cup Warm Water
  • 1 Teaspoon sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Yeast
First Mix the flower and salt together in a bowl, in a different bowl mix the warm water and sugar together until sugar is dissolved, then sprinkle yeast over the sugar water. Pour the water mix into the flour mix and then stir until it turns into dough. Add extra flour if needed. Softly need the dough until combined. Leave the dough for 5-10 minuets while you wash your dishes. After that Place dough onto a floured bored and gently press down with your knuckles then cut into 4-6 peace. Fry them in an oiled pan until golden brown on each side. Enjoy :)
