Current Events

A small town in the south Island called Blenheim are considering to change the name of this town. A group of business people think that the town is not well-known so by changing the name they think that it will get more attention. They believe that it is widely recognised by Blenheim's wine industry in Marlborough but think that some people don't know where Blenheim is.

Weekly Reflection

I set goals, work to achieve these, and reflect on my progress.

This week I set a goal for myself to achieve having 15-16 pages on AWS completed by the end of this week. On my MI plain I put in 4 spaces to do my AWS so I can achieve this goal. All though I didn't get to mark all of the pages in my AWS I still got 16 pages completed. Next week I hope to achieve to get 18 pages done or 17 and mark the rest.

One of my other goals was to make to for more important things in my learning. This week I feel like I have achieved a lot in my learning, but the thing I'm most proud of is my IE. I feel like I have completed my Presentation, my Kahoot quiz along with it and my Bee hive that I have created. I put in 5 slots to complete this because I made time for it.

Hockey In The Hail

On wednesday it was our third game of hockey for the season. As usual I didn't touch the ball, but that's a good thing, well not for me because I get a little bored at the other end of the turf. Anyway we got off to a great start by getting a goal in the first minute, the rest of the game was a blur I couldn't remember much other then a loud commotion every now and then when we got a goal. It started to rain then... Bonk! A big clump of ice hit my helmet, little bits of Ice came tumbling after it. We all ran back to shelter. There was a giant flicker of a brightness lighting up the sky followed by a crashing sound of thunder. We all shiver and sceam as the thunder rumbles. It settles down back to rain but it was hard rain and everyone was shivering from the cold and wet rain so we had to cancel the rest of the game.

Goal Reflection

This weeks goal was to organise our self and be ready for our learning.

  • I feel like I have achieved my goals by increasing the amount of water that I usually drink, I drink three to four glasses of water in the morning two to three in the middle block and three in the afternoon.
  • I have been reading before I go to bed to wind down and sleep well.
  • I haven't been taking many brain brakes except for huff N puff because I have been so interested to do my work I just don't want to stop.
I will keep this goal to myself as a reminder to drink more take more brain breaks and have a good night sleep.

Article
John John Florence wins the Eddie Aikau wave completion and was crowned the worlds greatest wave rider.
What  I learnt about this article was that they named  a wave completion after a well-known surfer that was lost at sea, I was very interested in this because there was no trace of him and I wondered if he was still alive somewhere.

The Learning Brain

I Organise Myself and Ready To Learn

This week my goals are to drink one or two cups of water before every meal and after I exercise, all up I wish to drink 3 liters of water a day.

I also would like to sleep earlier, before I go to bed I will try to read 2-3 chapters a night before I go to bed so that I can settle down and sleep easy.

Play some more challenging games to help practice strategies and take regular brain breaks to refresh my brain.

Follow my MI as directed so that I can break down my learning into suitable times so I don't get stressed.

First Game Of The Seson

On Wednesday the Hornets had their first hockey game for the season. We got of to a great start with 7 Nil within the first half. My side of the story was a little boring, I stood there for 30 Min's not doing anything but spectating, the ball didn't even come close to the circle witch is a good thing but boring for me.

The second half was a tad more exciting because in the first 5 minutes the ball was heading strait towards me, I prepare myself for the save because I had been preparing myself ever since we've started. I kick the ball very calmly off to the side, my team mates yell "shot Sophie" and continue playing. I thought to myself "That was easy" and continue cheering and spectating. In the end we got 13 Nil to us, it was a great game to watch.

Weekly Reflection

The Right Learning, In The Right Learning Space

This week I think I could have done better to achieve this goal, there where a couple of times that I was in the right learning space doing the right learning like...
Sitting in the quiet space to do my IE, I wrote twice as much on my IE than I had Before because of that choice that I made to sit in the quiet space.
I also sat in the collaborative space with Morgan and we discussed questions about our IE's and we shared them together and I changed a few things like spelling mistakes that I couldn't see.
I also booked into a punctuation challenge because I needed to practise my punctation, and we discussed where to put the correct punctation.

Learner Agency #2

I give positive feedback and feedforward and that helps others reflect on their learning to make it the best it can be.

I really need to work on booking into suitable workshops to help me with my own learning not because my friends are in that workshop too.

Mothers Day

On Friday NPS had a Mother's day high Tea.There were so many delicious looking afternoon treats but they were all gone before I got to them. All the decorations were amazing my Mum love the colours. I showed my Mum my art and the transformation of our new classroom. She enjoyed hearing about my learning and what I have been getting up too in class. Even though I didn't get any yummy treats it was still an interesting and fun afternoon.
